3 different museums in Malaga that will surprise you
Malaga breathes culture. The Picasso Museum, the Thyssen, the CAC or the Centre Pompidou are obligatory visits for any art lover. However, in this article we want to recommend you three lesser known, but super interesting museums that will not leave you indifferent. How much do you know about the history of video games? Would you like to see some of the most expensive classic cars in history? Have you ever been surrounded by more than 3000 pieces of glass? Well get ready, here are 3 different museums in Malaga to enjoy art and culture from a unique perspective.
1. OXO: Videogame Museum of Malaga
You don’t have to be a video game geek to enjoy this unique museum (although if you are, you’ll enjoy it like a kid in a ball pool). Who didn’t ask for a GameBoy Color for Epiphany or freak out with the PlayStation 1? At OXO you will be able to see (and yes, also play!) with these and other consoles, both classic and current. You’ll learn about the history of videogames and you’ll be amazed by this immersive experience full of neon and colours - they even have giant controllers! They also organise regular talks on video games and technology.
Where: Pl. del Siglo, 2.
2. Automobile and fashion museum
Have you ever stood in front of a Bugatti, an Ettore and a Labourdette together? Make your dreams come true at the MAM, the Malaga Automobile and Fashion Museum. You’ll stroll among classic vehicles of all kinds, following the evolution of design throughout history. On another note, you’ll also learn a lot about haute couture at this museum. The permanent exhibition “The Show Must Go On” features various vintage garments from luxury brands such as Chanel, Dior and Givenchy. You can also see contemporary works of art from every era, photos of Hollywood and even an original poster of the most famous cabaret in history: the Moulin Rouge.
Where: Av. Sor Teresa Prat, 15.
3. Glass and Crystal Museum
In this museum, which is not for the clumsy, you will be able to explore the history of mankind through a collection of 3,000 pieces of glass and crystal from different periods. To complete the scene, furniture, decoration and works of art from each historical context are also included. All visits to the museum are guided, so you won’t miss a single detail of this fascinating exhibition.
