5 plans to get out of your comfort zone during the long weekend in October in Valencia
If the cinema + dinner plan tires you out, you’re in luck: October is the perfect month to try new experiences in leisure, culture or gastronomy. The October bank holidays (mega long weekend for the lucky ones) bring us a lot of different plans to start the new year (we all know that the real new year is autumn) with a good vibe in the body. Here is our proposal of 5 leisure plans to let yourself go and enjoy the 9th and 12th of October in Valencia.
1. Patraix Festivities
In case you haven’t heard yet, Patraix is cool. Thanks to its cultural and leisure initiatives, some people already consider this historic Valencian neighbourhood to be the new Benimaclet. Until 15 October you can enjoy its popular festivities with musical activities, fireworks, a tapas route and the travelling opera of the Artes Volant truck, among many other events.
2. Entrance of the Moors and Christians
If you are looking for a spectacle for the eyes, on 9 October don’t miss the traditional Entrada de Moros i Cristians 2023 (entrance of the Moors and Christians), in which more than 2,000 people, dressed as characters from one of the two sides, will parade to the rhythm of the music bands between dances and floats. The entrance will start from the Parterre and will run through emblematic streets of the historic centre until it ends in Marques de Sotelo street.
3. Great Chinese Acrobatic Circus
On October 9th the main stage of La Rambleta will move to the Orient with the Great Chinese Acrobatic Circus, formed by former Olympic medallists and members of the Cirque du Soleil. More than 2,000 pieces of silk will make up the exotic costumes, which will be combined with dances, juggling, acrobatics and magic in a different and very visual show.
4. Great Seafood Festival
If you’re looking for a good excuse to eat out, sign up for MarisGalicia, the Great Seafood Festival, which from 6 October to 1 November will be set up in a large marquee in the old Grao station to offer the best products straight from the Atlantic Ocean. Live cooking, food stalls and a stage where the conxuro de la queimada will be performed will fill the enclosure, with a capacity of more than 1000 people.
5. “Popular” exhibition at IVAM
If for you the holidays are synonymous with culture, the IVAM has a new exhibition on the concept of “popular” with more than 1500 works by renowned artists such as Miró, Tàpies, Picasso and Pinazo. If in the end you don’t find a space, don’t worry, it will be available from 5 October until 14 April.
