The best jam sessions in Madrid
They say that you either love jazz or you hate it. If you’re one of the former and live in Madrid, you’re in luck, because the capital is one of the best cities to enjoy this improvisational genre. You can imagine: you, your buddies, your favorite drink in hand and the music of the sax, double bass and piano filling everything. If you are looking for live jazz, don’t miss these three places that organize jam sessions in Madrid. Let the music play!
1. La Coquette
In the historic neighborhood of Las Letras hides this magical basement where music sounds non-stop. The bar with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls, whose opening as a restaurant dates back to the 60s, hosts jams every Sunday, most of them free of charge. A perfect option if you are one of those who believe that the weekend is not over until 23:59 on Sunday.
Where: C. de las Hileras, 14.
2. Intruso Bar
This industrial-style pub has set out to make Mondays a little less grey with its Blues&Roots Jam. Every first day of the week at 11:30 p.m. it brings together a variety of national and international artists in these jam sessions that will lift anyone’s spirits. Who said that you can only go out to have fun on the weekend?
Where: C. Augusto Figueroa, 3.
3. Moe club
Although they share the same name, this place is much cooler than Moe’s bar from The Simpsons. A fairly large club with two different atmospheres that offers concerts during the day and extends the night until 5:00 a.m. with DJ sessions. Halfway between both worlds are the jam sessions organized on Sundays and Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. (admission is free). With 20 years of history, this nightclub is one of the most legendary in Madrid and its atmosphere never disappoints.
Where: Av. Alberto de Alcocer, 32.
