4 tips to speak in public without dying of nerves
If every time you have to speak in public you get the seven evils and stage fright takes hold of you, keep calm and put these four tips into practice.
1. Get organized
Having the topic you are going to talk about well prepared will help you avoid this feeling of being blank. A tip: don’t memorize, but rather internalize the general argument so that you can present it in your own words if you get nervous. You can also make a small outline on paper for reference (but don’t abuse reading).
2. Eye contact
You may think that looking at your feet will make you feel less insecure, but the opposite is true. Back straight, head up and stare at the audience. It will help you better control the situation and better connect with people.
3. Be real
If you make a mistake or drop your papers, don’t panic. React naturally, people appreciate spontaneity.
4. Start strong
What begins well, ends well. Choose a powerful first sentence to awaken the audience’s interest. It will make you feel confident from the first moment and everything will flow much better.
