Museo Carmen Thyssen: the epicentre of 19th-century Spanish art in Malaga
A tribute to national art. This is how we could define the Museo Carmen Thyssen in Málaga, with an exhibition of more than 230 works from the immense family collection of the television baroness after whom it is named. Sorolla, Goya, Fortuny, Madrazo… These are just some of the authors of the paintings, sculptures and other works that form part of the museum’s permanent exhibition. But, in reality, the Thyssen Malaga is -still- much more than that. Its temporary exhibitions, such as the one dedicated to portraits of saints in 17th century Spanish art, which is about to open, complete the museum’s vast overview of the national artistic panorama.
In addition, the centre also offers guided tours and all kinds of cultural programmes, such as lectures, workshops, musical events, etc. Located inside the 16th-century Renaissance-style Palacio de Villalón, the Museo Carmen Thyssen has a library, classrooms, an auditorium and a shop. A huge space brimming with culture that you can soak up for €10 (general admission).
