Poblenou: the old industrial neighborhood of Barcelona where urban art lives
To say that Barcelona is a city with a lot of urban art is an understatement. The graffiti movement is one of the city’s hallmarks, and the old industrial neighborhood of Poblenou is good proof of this. Thanks to these murals, many of the abandoned factories have changed their nondescript gray for the burst of color of the claims and reflections of different artists. To highlight some of the works, in C. Selva de Mar with C. Peru stands the striking portrait of a chimpanzee that seems to have a human look. On the same street, we see another mural dedicated to Pau Donés.
A little further on towards the sea, the street art about the Syrian war on the facade of the old factory La Escocesa stands out. The aesthetics change as we approach Calle Agricultura, where the characters from Bola de Dragón greet us at the intersection with Calle Venezuela. Already in the center of the neighborhood, the vindication comes with the graffiti to the politician Neus Català, survivor of a Nazi concentration camp.
