The Masonic library in Barcelona where Sherlock Holmes lives
If the headline of this news item has puzzled you, it is not for nothing. Because, of course, there are few things more peculiar than a 19th century library with a statue of liberty at the entrance, a collection of more than 70,000 volumes on social and Masonic themes, and a collection of books and objects about the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. All together, but not mixed up, in what was once the home of Rossend Arús. The playwright and journalist asked in his lifetime that, on his death, a library and research centre be built in his memory for and by the town. And so it was: today the Arús Public Library can be visited free of charge with prior identification. As well as containing thousands of books full of knowledge, it is worth a visit for its rustic ambience and magical atmosphere of a secret library.
