The Renaissance beauty of Alicante's Co-cathedral
Getting to know a city means strolling through its streets, chatting with its people, tasting its gastronomy and also contemplating and visiting its buildings. If you happen to be in Alicante’s old quarter, don’t hesitate to visit the Co-cathedral of San Nicolás de Bari, an imposing construction in the Herrerian Renaissance style built on the ruins of a mosque. In the building, located in the Plaza del Abad Penalva square, the highlights are the sober façade, which corresponds to a previous temple built in the 15th century, the Baroque chapel, the cloister with 18th century grilles and the polychrome altarpieces. A visit that will immerse you in the art and history of the city.
