Barcelona from the heights: MACBA will allow access to a panoramic terrace for the Night of the Museums
As every year, Barcelona prepares for its Night of the Museums (on 18 May), when art becomes more accessible than ever. During the afternoon and part of the evening, the city’s museums, including the most important ones, such as the MACBA, will open their doors free of charge so that anyone who wants to can explore their installations and exhibitions. The MACBA, in particular, has another incentive up its sleeve to attract visitors on this cultural day: allowing access to areas usually restricted to the public. In this case, we are talking about the Convent dels Àngels, an imposing building which, although it has been remodelled several times, still retains the charm of its original 16th-century Gothic layout.
We’ve saved the best for last: visitors will be able to climb the tower of the museum’s Study and Documentation Centre to contemplate the incredible panoramic views of the city. Both visits will be guided, and will explain, among other things, the history of the facilities and the structure of the city, from its delimitation with walls to the reform and enlargement of the city in the 19th century. A cultural and 100% free plan to continue discovering Barcelona.
