Countdown to the Malaga Fair: lanterns, copla and verdiales fill the city
The Feria de Agosto or Malaga Fair is a much awaited date for locals and visitors alike. From 12 to 19 August, the Cortijo de Torres fairgrounds, on the one hand, and the historic centre of Malaga, on the other, will host a host of activities, shows and concerts to celebrate Malaga’s culture and folklore. During the day, Calle Larios and the other corners of the historic centre will be full of life with the decoration of lanterns and flowers, the music of the parades and the Verdiales bands, the horse-drawn carriages and equestrian shows, and the improvised tablaos where flamenco and the copla will be performed non-stop. At night, the party will continue in the Cortijo de Torres with all of the above, plus shows by artists such as Jarillo Lata, Tabletom, Merche, Manolo Sarria and Camela. The Feria de Málaga can’t be avoided, so join in!
