High altitude route in the Ereta Park
On the slopes of Mount Benacantil and above the historic district of Santa Cruz is the Parque de la Ereta. This green area of more than 7 hectares, which links the port of Alicante with the top of the mountain and the Castle of Santa Barbara, offers one of the best panoramic views of the city centre, the Mediterranean Sea and the sunset. An easy circular route, lasting about an hour with the occasional steep slope, which runs through the heights of Alicante and is dotted with historical monuments and tourist attractions, such as the Santa Cruz Hermitage, the Water Garden or the Garrigós Wells, a water museum. Whether to stroll freely accompanied by the privileged views, as a viewpoint and rest area on the ascent or descent to the Castle, or to enjoy an after-dinner drink with a view after eating in the restaurant located there, the Parque de la Ereta is a place full of magic. By the way, you can sign up for one of its free guided tours on the town hall’s website.
